Theme Response Agonizingly Slow

    Is there anything I can do to improve the response while working with Virtue theme options?

    When I hit Save Changes, I usually wait about 30 seconds or more … often, I wait up to a minute … and, worst case, it took almost 2 minutes before the change processed. I have shut down every process on my PC (Win8.1, 6 gb of RAM) that might drain system resources, but nothing seems to help. I’ve browsed the forum, but don’t see any specifics about this.

    I love Virtue, but this problem is really turning me off. Would upgrading to the Premium version help?

  • Hey,
    So the speed of the options panel depends on your server and the server settings. With all the options it’s a lot to process on a slow server. But even on a slow server you can help the speed out a lot by increasing your php max memory. Depending on the server you may or may not be able to effect the php settings and you may not have access to enough memory on the server to effect the site but it’s worth trying.

    Thanks for the quick and very helpful reply. I have suspected the server was causing this, and I will be in contact with the ISP. I’ll also follow your suggestion for increasing the max memory. And if they won’t do it, there are other ISPs out there.
