Adding this to the header or footer template of your theme should work:

<?php if(is_front_page()) { ?>
<script type="text/javascript">
  jQuery(document).ready(function($){
 map.setZoom(14);
  });
</script>
<?php  } ?>

Just change 14 to whatever works best.
