Activating theme overwrites part of database – reimporting DB breaks theme! :(((

  • I’m a novice!!!
    This is all on a localhost test server using a child theme.

    The dilemma I’m having is that activating the ‘demo sample content’ of the theme overwrites wp_posts in the mySQL database. So naturally I try to import my old backup of the database, which overwrites any entries the theme sample content activator(necessary theme stuff) has written. This of course badly breaks my page.

    I’ve been stuck on this for awhile. It seems that I either get to keep my posts or to use my new theme, but not both… What can I do? Hand entering her 200ish posts is not sounding fun..
