I’m running multi sites on my WP installation with a number of sites currently under development.

Today I tried to create a user for one of the sites (as editor) but the menu items don’t seem to appear as they should nor can I view posts, pages etc. I’ve turned off the User Role Editor plugin to avoid any conflict, but even with this turned off the problem persists.

Is there a known conflict with any other plugins I should be aware of?

I’m also running Yoast SEO, Jetpack, and security plugins on the most up-to-date WP install.

If you are running WordFence or similar plugins, I’ve had issues where the site won’t load. I would recommend that you remove all security plugins and just run brute protect (I’ve even protected council websites using just this – and it has blocked 150 malicious attacks in the past month!)

I would also try a different theme as some themes in the function.php file have things that disable parts of the menus.

Also just to be clear, you are talking about the admin menu and not the front-end website menu aren’t you?

    Thanks.

Yes, it’s the admin menu that isn’t displaying properly. When logged in as editor I don’t get to see the posts, pages, comments, etc.

The only menu items I can see is the Projects and a few plugins (Events, Feedback, SEO BWP, Mailchimp). I also don’t get the option to log out unless I quite my browser.

Not keen on changing themes and may also consult with the theme developer to see if there is an issue.

    Feeling sheepish. Problem found…?user error!

Got a little overzealous installing plugins not realising I installed one that switches user menus off by default.
