    Because I want to prevent the [audio] shortcode being replaced by an actual player in the Visual editor. The player always gets its own paragraph while the shortcode used to be able to live inline with normal text. I think this changed with WP 3.9 ?

    The problem is that we are running a website with over 1000 posts that have one or more audio shortcodes and all of them are used inline with text. The front end audio player has been adapted via CSS to only show a play/pause button that fits nicely inline.

    Now, after upgrading, each time a post is edited, the play button jumps to its own paragraph, breaking the original post layout. Making us very unhappy with this latest media editing feature ??
