Suddenly cannot access backend when trying to login

  • Hi, I’ve been using Maven Member for a long time and it has always worked well for me. Recently, when trying to login, after I submit my username/pw I am getting these warnings on the backend and am unable to login. Can you help me?

    When I deactivate the plugin from cpanel, I can access the backend with no problem. My site is https://serc-esa.com. I am using Maven Member version 1.0.35. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    I’m getting 406 error which means I too can’t get into my site as admin.
    Could you explain how you use cpanel to deactive the maven plugin. I assume it is more involved than just deleting the tables from the data base. Maybe not even along those lines.

    Hi Curt,
    It’s actually quite easy. Log into your cpanel and go into the file manager. From there, navigate to wp-content > plugins and then you will see the folders for all your different plugins. I usually just rename the file, so I change it to 1mavenmenber (or whatever the file name is- I just add a one to the front of it.). That will deactivate it automatically because WordPress won’t be able to find it with a different name. Then you should be able to get back into your site (assuming Maven Member is your problem).     Thanks so much, Laura. I was able to get back in. I think you’ve saved me untold grief. Guess I need to get over the idea of going to the database first. Forgot about the file manager possibility.

    Is there a way to access or disable the plugin without a cpanel? I no longer have access to the backend of my site and am stuck.

    Do you have ftp? That works the same way. Otherwise, I don’t know of a way to get back in unless you just locked yourself out for a specific period of time. Then you try waiting it out or logging in from a different IP. Good luck!

    I am trying to get access to the ftp but don’t as of right now. I didn’t lock out for a specific time, when I login to the backend it directs me to this page:

    So it is trying to log me in, but I’m assuming that it has decided to lock the entire site or something. Hopefully I can get access to the ftp at some point and remove the plugin.

    Re your first post: you don’t need access to the backend of your site to get to cpanel. You should be able to access it through your hosting service. I use webhostinghub and I basically signed in to the service then navigated to cpanel. Your hosting service should have similar arrangement.

    Keep in mind these thoughts are from a relative newby in this endeavor.
