• There is no shortage of how to MOVE a site from one sever to another, or testing server to live site, but nothing really on syncing edits done on the local server and then moving those changes to the LIVE server. I found this plugin but I was wondering if someone had another method. I would like to be able to do this with the shortest amount of down time for the LIVE site.

    Many thanks,
    Houston

  • There’s nothing, afaik. You have to export from a local server and then import on the live server.

I suppose you could write a script on your local machine that would do this, but it would need to integrate with WordPress on both ends. Tricky…

    Well thats a bummer. ??

If you are talking about content-only, I used to use Windows Live Writer to create content locally and publish it to the live site. Also used Mars Edit to do the same thing from a Mac. Haven’t used either in a while as I just do it on the live site ??

If you are talking about any other kind of “edits” (themes, plugins, etc.), then as kjodle says, nothing AFAIK.

There are a lot of plugins that support editing of content remotely. but no admin changes or functionality are possible through them. you will need to log in for them everytime.
