I installed this plugin for a client and it works great– except when the image has a caption. In this case, the first image has a caption and the plugin ignores it and uses the 2nd image as the Featured Image.

    To reproduce:
    1. Create a new post
    2. Add one image to the top of the entry WITH a caption
    3. Add another image somewhere below it without a caption

If you look at the home page, you’ll see the second image as the featured image, but if you click through, you’ll see the correct first image.

Is there any way around this? Thank you!

    Hi todiadiyatmo!

That did not work unfortunately. It still ignores the first image with the caption.

Hi. I’m also having this problem. I just installed the plugin and while it works great otherwise, none of my images (all captioned) show up in excerpts. I’m using a Twenty-Eleven Child Theme.

    See: https://www.adammandelman.net/porous-places/

    Thanks!

    Hi mtchieu !

could you please use this setting :

    Excerpt Lenght : 500
Display image on excerpt : show only first image
    Excerpt method : paragraf

    The problem is :

if the image is on the bottom of the post, and the excerpt size is too small, the image would not show.

This will be fixed on next release (hopefully). The current solution is to move the image to upper part of the post and make the excerpt lenght a bit longer ??

Those are the settings that I currently have. The image is actually at the top of the post but it has a caption and the plugin seems to skip over it.

I just emailed you more details. Thank you for trying to help!

This is working now! Two things I changed:
    1. I am using the new version of the plugin (1.0.9)
    2. In the plugin settings, ‘Strip shortcode in excerpt’ needs to be set to ‘No’.

Thank you for giving the solution, we will update the behaviour in next release, so strip shortcode or not it will work ??
