Strange 'broken' links reported by Google

  • Hi All

    My client has employed an SEO company and they have come back to me saying there are nearly 100 broken links on the site.

    They’ve sent a list of the broken links, and they mostly look like this:

    https://www.net-work-1.co.uk/?p=653.

    If you follow this link, it comes up as

    https://www.net-work-1.co.uk/landing/

    Which is the correct link.

    I can only deduce that wordpress is creating duplicate ‘non pretty’ links, or that in creating ‘pretty’ links, I’ve caused these ghost links.

    Is there any way to solve this?

  • I don’t know how all the ghost links are being made, but I can tell you how to resolve the SEO issue. Make sure that all the links to the pages at the site go to the correct URL. Go to Webmaster tools and mark them as corrected.
