Need guidance in developing my website.

Hi everyone.

I have a website which is almost ready and published. it is a site where students sign up and submit ideas for new projects, and vote on them. So what I need set up is the landing page for when they login to the site. On the landing page I would like to have a section that allows them to upload their files, could be a Word document, or a video. Once uploaded these should be visible to the rest of the community so they can vote on the project if they like it. On the same page I would also like to showcase the top voted projects, preferably right at the top of the landing page. Finally there needs to be a side bar or widgetized section where we can place sponsor ads. I am using buddypress on the site. This is the link to the site

Any suggestion or help on how to accomplish this task, will be appreciated.
