why does the page act like a post with categories and timestamp?

I was creating a page for a website from a WP theme. Unfortunately, it acts like a post because I get the category and timestamp showing up. Where within the template files should I be looking to help modify this so that those elements don’t show?

I’m using the brown and white theme 1.0 if that helps anyone;
