Yep, you can get yearly, monthly and daily archives. For example:

Yearly: https://yoursite.com/2014/custom-post-type/
Monthly: https://yoursite.com/2014/08/custom-post-type/
Daily: https://yoursite.com/2014/08/01/custom-post-type/

There is a bug by passing in ‘type’ => ‘postbypost’ generates an incorrect link:

site.com/stories/story-of-spanish-speaking-client/stories/

instead of:

site.com/stories/story-of-spanish-speaking-client/
