I can’t switch to the default theme because I’m working on an active website, I don’t want to disturb ours customers.

What can I do about the permissions ?

You’ll need to try the switch in order to rule-out a theme-specific issue, otherwise no one will know how what the problem is. We can only identify the problem by ruling-out common causes, and since the error actually mentions your current theme, that seems very likely.

You don’t have to stay switched for long, just switch long enough to see if the issue continues, you can even do it late at night when your audience is small.

If the error goes away, it’s definitely the theme, and I recommend getting in touch with the theme’s designer about the problem.
