• Every time I use WordPress I have to change my password. It never remembers my password. And I mean EVERY TIME!

I know what you are thinking. You’re thinking I am forgetting it. I am not. I will change the password, then immediately logout to test if it is me or WordPress. I close out the browser. Reopen the browser, go to my admin page and it won’t let me use the pw I just created! I did it several times and it forgets EVERY TIME.

    What’s Up with this?

    Pat

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks.

I just started this last week. And I hate it. WP seems difficult. It’s one problem after another. Not user friendly at all.

I have one plug in (Which isn’t working anyway) and the problem existed before I put in the plug in. I wouldn’t know how to deactivate it anyway.

I still have the default theme.

Is there a better blogging software out there? Something more user friendly that I can still use my own domain with?

    Thanks,

    Pat

That’s really the wrong question to ask on a WordPress support forum. ??

Whatever this issue is, it’s specific to your site or browser – not WordPress. Have you tried using another browser? Or another computer?

I’m just really frustrated with it.

Maybe I’ll just delete everything and start over.

I have used two browsers. I doubt it’s the computer, since I have no problems doing anything else.

What browsers did you try? And, yes, it could be a computer-specific issue which is why I suggested that you try another machine.

I have one computer. If it’s not going to work on this computer no use trying.

Should I dumb WP? What else could I do?

Have you tried a completely fresh install using a completely new database?

I’ll wipe out and see what happens.

I think I might be hacked and hacked from the get go.

If I try to log in and ask for a new password, it doesn’t even email me one.

Thanks for link. But I don’t understand terms like ” PHP mail”, “SMTP” “Nix box” and others. That’s why I say WP is not user friendly.

So what is it asking me to do?

I am sorry. I just don’t know. I am not a tech person. I just want to write a blog.

    Thanks!

So what is it asking me to do?

The issue with the non-receipt of emailed passwords lies with your hosts server – not WordPress. So you would either need to speak to your hosts or install a plugin to correct the server problem.

Perhaps you would be more comfortable using a free wordpress.com blog?

I’ll have to check with them.

The reason I went to WP.org is because I need to use my own domain for my small business and have the ability to schedule blogs. With Blogger.com I was able to schedule, but not use my own domain. I didn’t realize it would be this hard.

    Thanks.

That option is available as a paid add-on at wordpress.com. Post/Page scheduling is also available with all wordpress.com sites. In fact you get virtually all of the features of a self-hosted site without any of the hassle. The only disadvantage is that you cannot upload your own themes or plugins.

    Have a look at https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for a side-by-side comparison.

Given that you seem to have have had a pretty miserable time with self-hosting and want to avoid the technical side of things, I think this might be a perfect solution for you.
