• I upgraded from 2.07 to 2.1 and almost everything went well. If I go to Manage…. Categories, the category page will not display. In Firefox I get a popup asking me if I want to open or save the category.php file. In Opera I just get a blank white page when I try to go to the manage categories page.

I deleted and reloaded the category.php file. Nothing changed.

I downloaded a fresh zip and tried it again. No luck.

Try a fresh upload of everything in wp-admin, wp-includes, and the main blog directory (except for wp-config.php and .htaccess, of course). It’s possible that an error in any of them could cause this sort of behavior. Best to make sure it’s all correct.

    Same exact problem here.

    Fresh Install, no categories
Dropped the DB, reinstalled from blank, no categories
reupped the script and there was no change.

Previous versions weren’t a problem. Same server. *shrug*

No luck with reloading all fresh files.

I just tried what onlinetracker tried. I created a brand new database and loaded a fresh copy as a test installation, and still had the same problem.

I have a dedicated server. My server specs:

    PHP 4.3.11
    MySql 4.0.27 standard
    Linux x86_64
    4gb ram
    Apache 1.3.34
    cpanel

Still nothing eh Redbox? Not sure what to do with this. I’m on a Doster VPS. The DB does have the categories listed, but they aren’t being displayed. Going a bit nuts. Cheers.

Nope, nothing working here either. My original categories are showing up, but I still can’t access the category admin page to manage them.

I ended up restoring my backup and reverting to 2.07.

    Hi guys,

I had this problem, was really stressing over it…until: In the “write post” section in the admin panel you can add a new catagory, I did that, and discovered that afterwords, the manage catagories panel worked. Delete that catagory I added and it gives me a blank page….weird.

Anyway, hope that helps you guys

Thanks for the reply! I went to my test installation (new install) of 2.1 and tried that, but unfortunately it still didn’t work. I can add categories there, but I can’t manage them and add descriptions which are important to my site, etc. ??

Ive got the same exact problem. Tried what danimalanimal i suggesting and then it works until i delete the category, then the page stops working.

Im running apache 2.0.52 on CentOS and PHP 4.3.9 with Zend Optimizer v3.0.1 and WP 2.1

At least its not a showstopper anymore, and it can be worked around.

The new upgrade that was released 3 days ago, 2.1.1 solved the problem for me ??
