in there under the account settings that i could change the location.. so i put mydomain.com/blog
Please be more specific.
There are two spots in your options page where you can change the URL. There is “change your WordPress URI” and “Blog Address”. Which one did you change?
Since you can still see your site, but your admin area is giving you a 404, my guess is that you changed the “WordPress URI” value – which is bad. And also means you didn’t follow Handy’s directions.
Changing the value in the WordPress URI makes the database look for the necessary and requires functions and files that make wordpress work in whatever you put in that field. If you put in some random directory where there are no WordPress files, then you have made a mess.
If you changed the *Blog* URI, then you just have to log in and change it back to what it was. But like I said, it sounds like you did the other field.
IN that case, you’re going to have to log in to your host’s control panel, find phpMyAdmin and edit your database. CAREFULLY. To point to the old directory.
Here is an excellent step-by-step tutorial on exactly how to do it. *FOLLOW* the instructions carefully.
After you’ve changed it back, follow Handy’s link and *follow* the instructions carefully on how to do that.
Hope that helps you out.
