Create Product Category Landing Page

Hi, I have 6 main categories and the category menu currently opens a grid of all the products within each category.
I would like to write a couple paragraphs before the product listings on each of the 6 categories, like a landing page. I see nowhere to easily achieve this. Would it be easier to create a “page” and then somehow “hook” in the product category listing? Anyone done this before?
