javascript in sidebar throws “you don’t have permission” options-general.php

i’ve looked all over for possible answers. i upgraded to 2.0.1 then this problem happened. i upgraded to 2.1 in hopes of fixing. no luck.

my .htaccess is blank. server is running php 5.6.1. i just changed to newest k2 theme but it was happening on misty-look theme before this.

this problem is entering adsense javascript into the sidebar. at first it threw the 403 forbidden with “you don’t have permission…” with regard to the options-general.php file.

now with 2.1 and new k2 no error gets thrown… it simply will not render/display the javascript/adsense.

any ideas of where this is coming from? what i can look at? do?
