I am attempting to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress. I can’t remember what version is running now (and it has me locked out with the error, so I can’t look it up… 3.1.? or something)

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/mydomain/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php on line 88

This error appears with everything I attempt to do, whether trying to edit my page, or add new post (these options still appear in the header, the WordPress toolbar, because I’m still logged in).

I can’t even reach the dashboard, because the error has me locked out.

Thank you. I could actually tell that is what needed to happen. One thing I didn’t mention above, is that I have researched this problem already, only to find that prior solutions posted don’t work for me. It has something to do with my file placement. My file paths are different that others.
Also, I’m afraid I’m very green, and others might understand how to fix “try increasing memory available for php”, but I’m afraid I need much more guidance than that. I need fairly specific instructions.

There are also, numereous threads that deal with this topic. For example: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fatal-error-allowed-memory-size-6

Did you post you response BEFORE seeing my last one?
Hopefully, this thread won’t close before someone else comes along that might have an idea that is different from the thread you linked me to. I already tried those things, they didn’t work. Also, I am locked out with the error and can’t even access the dash to get to the plugins, or anything.
Also, I have a ticket opened with the hosting company, but they don’t respond over the weekend, and still have not today. I spent my weekend on these forums trying to solve it myself.

This is really a host issue; keep after them or think about finding a better host.

My hosting company finally resolved this. Thank you both for your time.
