• In WordPress whenever an Administrator brings up a Page or Post the link titled “Edit this page” appears on the bottom. (See URL below). When you click on it you are directed to the Dashboard area where you can edit the page or post.

What program or file within WordPress is controlling this link? I want to omit this link under some circumstances. Where would I go to do that?

    Thank you for your help.

  • If I’m following you correctly, that Edit link is only visible when you’re logged into WP. Others viewing your pages will not see it.

That is correct.. .that Edit link is only visible to the Administrators…. I will not be an Administrator on the site. I am developing a WordPress site for them. Another Edit link, pointing to a different Page, will be displayed in place of that one.

Do you know how to omit this link? what php program is it coming from?

That edit link comes from the theme you are using.

I’m not sure what you mean when you say “Another Edit link, pointing to a different Page, will be displayed in place of that one.”.

If people are logged in and have access to the WordPress dashboard, they should see edit links, linking them back to the page or posts, unless the theme doesn’t support it.
