• Resolved BARTNKCMO

    (@bartnkcmo)

I know this is a redundant topic to be posting on but I have seen numerous posts with the same issue but I have yet to see a working solution.

The error starts when you go to post an image into a page. The system hangs when you try to upload an image the after awhile it says AN ERROR HAS OCCURED PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.

So to try again later I actually went out and spent 2 hours at my kids baseball game, cooked dinner, got them ready for bed, made whoopie with the wife and went back to try again. Once again another epic fail.

So far I have done the following

1 deactivate all the plugins and reset the application pool after each deactivation

2 removed all the plugins and reset the application pool each time

3 tried other themes and reset the application pool after 5 different theme changes

4 made a pot of coffee while contemplating lifes whimsical moments and taking into consideration that I should scrap the whole idea of using a WP platform ever again

5 contacted my hosting provider and spending hours and yes I mean hours on the phone to see if they can find a solution. And even after they restarted the application pool and looking over coding solutions that I did happen to find on this subject and have tried still we have not got the issue fixed.

6 spent 4 hours again today pouring thru the forums only to find zero solutions and a lot of others who have this issue.

So is there any of the WP DEVELOPERS not moderators who can maybe chime in and help solve the issue so that mine and others do not have sites that are basically boat anchors?

  • What is this “application pool” you keep talking about? I’ve never heard of that in relation to WordPress.

Are you sure that your hosting environment meets the minimum requirements to run WordPress?

taking into consideration that I should scrap the whole idea of using a WP platform ever again

WordPress works perfectly fine for lots of people. You have already tried the usual debugging technique (deactivating plugins), but there are others you can try.

Rather than give us a rundown of your day (unnecessary information), you might want to give us some useful information we could use to help you, such as which version of WordPress are you usin, which theme, which plugin, is everything up to date or not, a link to your site, which version of PHP you are running, etc, etc.

It would be useful if you would provide links to those threads, so that we don’t recommend something you have already tried.

Many of the moderators here ARE WordPress developers. Losing the attitude (along with providing useful information) can get you very far.

Out of the of the 5 websites all which are running wordpress in some form or fashion this is the only one that has had issues. As for the Application pool it is the reset basically

In answer to your other comments after looking at so many links for so long you get a little blurry eyed and after so many threads on the topic you tend to lose track of where you have been.

And yes the hosting company meets and exceeds the requirements for wordpress.

As for the WP running that’s all fine and dandy but those of us who have this very same issue would like some help. So for you to sit here and critique my post instead of maybe helping to offer a solution is mute.

And as for the moderators they may very well be developers but from what I have seen from them is basically asking others to either not butt into a conversation or move things to another thread instead of maybe pointing those users who share the same problem in the right direction to solve the issue.

And as for the so called snarky comments most of it was said in jest to maybe help lighten the mood. So if you are unable to determine this I suggest you not answer my posts unless you can help with a viable solution.

So if you are unable to determine this I suggest you not answer my posts unless you can help with a viable solution.

Well, you need to give us more information, as I suggested.

you tend to lose track of where you have been

Your browser has a history function. It can be useful, if it hasn’t flushed itself. (How often it does that depends on your settings.)

So if you are unable to determine this I suggest you not answer my posts unless you can help with a viable solution.

In other words, “If you can’t answer my exact question, despite the fact that I have given you next to nothing to go on, please don’t respond to my thread.”

Listen, things don’t happen automagically. I sincerely want to help you, but like I said, you’ve given us very little to go on. I’m trying to show you how to ask a better question so that you can get a better answer. Help us help you.

And as for the so called snarky comments most of it was said in jest to maybe help lighten the mood.

That’s fine. If you want to lighten your mood, you can post about this on your blog (that’s a good place here). But in order to help you we need a snarky comment:useful information ratio of 1:9, not 9:1.

I still don’t know what an “application pool” is. WordPress, PHP, MySQL, and none of the hosts I’ve ever been with have used this term.

Out of the of the 5 websites all which are running wordpress in some form or fashion this is the only one that has had issues.

Now THAT is useful information. Obviously, there’s something different about this site’s set-up that is causing the issue. It could be a plugin (but you’ve eliminated that possibility), the server setup, the WordPress version (but you’re up to date, right?), the theme (you can try switching temporarily to the default 2014 theme to see if the problem goes away; if you’re running the same theme as another site, it’s probably not the theme), or a child theme (if you’re using one). If you have another website with pretty much the same setup that is running fine, then it’s possible a recent update (of a plugin, theme, or WordPress itself) wasn’t complete. (It happens, sometimes a file gets mangled in the transfer process.) If you can eliminate all other things, then a clean reinstall of plugin/theme/WordPress might resolve the issue.

See how many possibilities we get from just ONE piece of useful information? Good questions lead to good responses.

Well thankfully my hosting company was of great service and resolved the issue with a snippet of code in the wordpress 3.9.1 issue resolved

BARTNKCMO, could you please expand on the snippet of code your hosting company provided?

I, like many it seems am having the same problem and have probably read the same forum posts without a solution yet…

    Mega grateful in advance!
