• Folks,

I understand the need to delete old WP files before an upgrade. Something occured to me:

Does it make sense to simply create a second folder and upload the new WP files to that with the intention of renaming the folder afterwards? For instance, if your main blog is:

    https://mydomain.com/blog/

…could we not just create a new folder:

    https://mydomain.com/blog2/

…and upload the necessary files to /blog2? Then, where we’re up and running, we can rename /blog to, say, /blog-2.0 and rename /blog2 to /blog. It just seems like it’d be a more sane procedure, as we wouldn’t need to delete anything until the new stuff works.

We would, of course, need to upload to /blog2 the files we aren’t supposed to delete in /blog (.htaccess, for example).

Just curious. For sanity purposes. ??

Thanks, and I look forward to Ella. btw, while I’m here, Ella’s good to go on GoDaddy, yes?

    Thx.

  • Don’t think your idea would work. I really isn’t that hard to delete the proper files.

    Ella works on godaddy.
