  • You should follow these instructions https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress for installing WordPress manually.

    The basic steps are:

1.FTP the contents of the .zip you download from the top of this page to the root of your hosting.
    2. Create a MySQL database.
    3. Edit the wp-config.php file.

However, web.com does offer a “one click” installer and I would recommend using that.

    Hope that helps!

Well thanks Keith, actually I’m facing a problem with connecting server, filezilla is failing to connect the server.
I’m also unaware of one-click installation process can you provide any link. I’ll be thankful.

Ninety nine percent of the FileZilla connection issues I see in the forums are due to a username/password issue or the host address is wrong. I would check with web.com for that.

According to the web.com website it states to visit your control panel and goto open source library. You should be able to install WordPress from there.

Thanks a lot Keith, thanks for your valuable time, My problem is one of those 99%.

I have web.com as a host too, I built my wordpress website there. If you go to my site on line, you get their placement page, not my web site. Talked to their support and they told me to do the five minute install, still not working. I’ve been using Dreamweaver for the ftp. There is no control panel on web.com like I’ve seen in all the demos for wordpress. They even had problems with the initial installation. I don’t think web.com is a good wordpress host. But, as I’m new to the web design world, I could be missing something.
