Google fonts .tmp files

I am using the ThemeWarrior Qaween theme. It is loading so slow that it is unusable even with a blank page with nothing on it (no graphics, tabs, etc.). Every time I load a page, hundreds of 0kb files like:

googlefonts.tmp
googlefonts2.tmp
googlefonts3.tmp
etc.

show up in the wp-content folder. I delete them but when I try to load any page they reappear. I think this is what is slowing the process down but I haven’t a clue how to fix it. Any suggestions?
