Upgraded then Deactivated As Per Directions – All Data is Gone…

We updated the Event Reg to version 6.01.07
When doing this we were having an issue where users who signed up for the event — they were NOT being stored in backend. However the admin would get an email, but none of the name info would appear.We looked deeper and it recommended deactivating and then reactivating the software. We went ahead and did this.
It then removed ALL of our active events and they are no longer showing on front end or backend.
The strange thing is there are still 3 events (that are expired from years ago) that are showing in the backend.We have a backup so we can revert – but I am confused why we lost all the data or if it is still there and a way to find it all?
If we go back to our backup we will have the same issue so trying to find the answer.Thank you in advance
