• Is there a way to have a visitor redirected back to the original protected post, upon completion of a purchase?

Right now I am using my site in such a way that free users will regularly be emailed discount codes that will bump their membership level up to a paying level. When they visit the site to view a specific post, they will not have access and therefore will see the “login or purchase” text that PMP generates for protected pages.

For them to use the discount code, they must click the purchase button, choose the proper level from the Membership Options page, enter the code, and complete the checkout process.

What I’d like is to have them automatically redirected back to the first post they clicked the purchase button on. Currently they land on the “Membership Confirmation” page.

I have tried Theme My Login settings (actually I deactivated it because of a conflict with Discount Codes since the most recent update), and I’ve tried adjusting the href code in the Advanced Settings of the PMP settings with a redirect!!referer!!. Both still send the user to the Membership Confirmation page.

If this isn’t possible, is there a way to add a link to the bottom of the Membership Confirmation page, like “back to post”, much like there is a link currently for “View Your Membership”?

Love the plugin, will purchase a paid membership, but this is a huge sticking point for me getting through my evaluation on whether to use it or not.

Yes, we’ve done things like this in the past by hooking into the_content, and setting a cookie with the current post ID, then filtering the confirmation message, checking for that cookie, and adding a link back to that page in the confirmation message.

Is that enough to get you started? If you need further help getting this setup, please consider becoming a PMPro member for our member support forums.

    Hope that helps!

Hi Messica, I plan on getting the full membership, but I need to work out my other issues with this plug-in first. I’m experiencing mixed results, and I’m not getting any help from it on the other threads, most importantly, the fact that memberships are not auto-downgrading after expiration. THat’s a pretty crucial one for us.

So as we travel through this evaluation period before buying the full version, I guess I will put this issue on the back burner, in confidence that you can solve it with paid support.

Again, I’d really appreciate some feed back on the other issues:

Memberships should be cancelled automatically when a membership expires. Try running the membership expiration script manually and see if it cancels the expired memberships. You can navigate directly to “../plugins/paid-memberships-pro/scheduled/crons/expirememberships.php” and see if that works.

If you want, we can also take a look at your site if you post on our member support forums.
