How to use multiple languages? and other questions please

  • Hello,

    I just started to use WordPress and was surprised by its user friendly interface. But something I can’t understand is how to allow multiple languages like for example, if I want to switch from English to Chinese alone without interfering with the websites default language?

    Some other questions I have is:
    Since there are so many plugins or extend… could somebody please guide me what is best to use or download? So that I could have a quick start.

    1) What plugin can be used to upload media files and inserts then into the blog content easily?

    2)What plugin to use making a users own profile page? (Is this possible)? and would make them allow to customize their page by uploading music or pictures.

    3)What best plugin can we use to allow users to upload pictures into a gallery?

    That’s all, just a quick start for me if you guys could give me some ideas please.. Thanks ??

    I tried searching on the language repository but, I didn’t see any language plugins that works like Forums which you could choose the xx_xx.mo language in a drop down list in our profiles.. Most of the language plugins in here work with automatic translation which made some of the words meaningless when translated.

    Anybody?

    Let’s stick to one question per thread.
    Language plugins are NOT supposed to automatically translate your content. Whichever plugin claims that makes translations… they just use one of the machine translations available on the web – which are all crappy ??

    Thanks for the reply moshu, I’m trying to find something that could use the xx_xx.mo in the wordpress user profile, so they could change from language to another in the backend. Just like when we are using the forums (e.g. SMF, vbulletin) mostly have a drop down lists of language we could choose. Do we have that kind of plugin here?
