    Hi,

up-front – great plugin – always enjoyed working with it.

However, recently I have problems with several wordpress installations (version 3.9.2) to create the packages. Scan looks fine >> all “Good”. However files are displayed as “0B” (?)

Afterwards, database, installer and archive can be created, but within archive there are no files.

    In log it says >>
    STATS: Dirs 596 | Files 0 | Links 0

    Further info >>
    VERSION: 0.5.6
    WORDPRESS: 3.9.2
    PHP INFO: 5.3.28 | SAPI: cgi-fcgi
    SERVER: Apache/2.2.27 (Unix)
PHP TIME LIMIT: (0) no time limit imposed
PHP MAX MEMORY: 5000M (256M default)

    Please advise.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Greetings,
    Flowrian

  • Hey @flowrian,

This might be related to permission issues. Checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: https://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “3. Troubleshoot=> Permission & System Issues”

If you continue to get the error you can submit a support ticket and I’ll have a look when I get a chance…

    Hope that helps!

    Hi there,

i am experiencing same thing just like Flowrian on different installations.

Important to mention that it worked nicely up to version 0.5.2, but since version 0.5.4 files are displayed as “0B” after scan and eventually the zip-files are empty.

The permissions of the (different) servers should have stayed the way the have been before.

Help in this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Btw – this is one of my favorite plugins… Thanks!

    Hey @christoqh,

If you want to submit a support ticket I could look at your setup. Its somehow related to permission issues somewhere most likely…

    Cheers~

    Hi again,

I checked all kinds of things from “3. Troubleshoot=> Permission & System Issues”, but could not resolve the issue.

Please keep me updated in case you find anything.

Would be a shame – it′s really a great plugin.

    Greetings,

    Hey @flowrian,

Not too much I really know what to look for at this point. Possibly if someone else runs across the same issue and I’m able to pin-point it on their setup. Those changes/fixes would roll-up into the next version…

    Cheers~

Just occurred to me that there is a section in the FAQ about this… Look for the question “What if I see warnings or errors during the ‘Scan Process’?” Then look for something about “server separation”. This issue was just resolved for another user that had a similar issue.

    Hi Cory,

thanks for your feedback – I will check with my hosting provider Strato accordingly – and keep this post updated.

    Greetings,
    Florian

    Sounds good. Keep me posted…

    Hi Cory,

just got the answer from hosting provider (Strato). According to support, they don′t really know what “your server could be configured with “server separation” actually means.
Neither did they comment on your suggested work-arounds >>

Possible options in Domain Configuration window are: 1.No forwarding
2.Forward to subfolder without service separation
3.Forward to subfolder with service separation
    4.Forward to IP/Host/URL
Switching temporarily to #2 will allow the Duplicator to run without issues for both the package and installer.

Could you briefly elaborate what you mean with service / server separation?

I personally think, it is just forwarded internally to “/”. Are you saying, it should be forwarded externally to “domain/index.php” in order to work for Duplicator?

    Thanks.
    Florian

    Hi @flowrian,

At this point you may want to submit a ticket. See the link at the bottom that says basic help.

    Thanks!

    Hi Flowrian/Cory

I am also using Strato as provider and have the same problem of an archive file of 0 MB .. All my files are set to permission 755 which is the highest I can set via ftp ( if i put 777 it automatically returns to 755) and when creating the archive I can see :

    Size: 0B | File Count: 0 | Directory Count: 513

meaning it can see the directories but not the files .
Could you solve the problem ?

    Any help very much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Johannes,

    unfortunately not yet.

My domain config is probably the same you are using >>

    Forwarding (internal): /
    DynDNS: inactive

Are you also using a package such as PowerWeb Basic, PowerWeb Starter
    or BasicWeb XL?

    (@flowrian)

Maybe if that helps >> I had no problems migrating the site from xampp onto server (using Duplicator).

But if I try to duplicate the site on strato server – the database is created (at least this is what sql file size implies) – however – the actual files are not included within zip-file (just empty directory structure / folders without content).

I also tried to modify permissions according to suggestions etc. – no impact on the problem.

    Hey guys,

I think this relates to how PHP has access to the opendir function. If you can give the developer version a try it may have your fixes for the issue your seeing or at least have better checks for the system requirements to let you know if your root directory has the correct permissions. The very latest version (0.5.7) can be found by following these instructions:

    -> Browse to https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/duplicator/developers/
-> Look for the section “Other Versions”
-> Click on “Development Version” and download the zip plugin file
-> Uninstall your current version and install this one
-> Note: This is a development line version so please test in your sandbox first to make sure you have no issues…

Also note if your on a windows system the 755 setting will not apply because windows sets permissions a bit differently.

Let me know if this solves your issue…

    Thanks

    Hi,

I installed the development version – still the same outcome.

Is there any parameter I should look out for in “Diagnostics”?
