How do I add my lastest posts to site home page?

    Hello everybody ??

    I am trying to add my latest blog entries onto
    my site’s home page. I thought about using an
    RSS reader but I don’t quite understand how they
    work.

    My home page of my site is a php file. The wordpress
    files are in a folder in the root of my directory.

    I just want the latest five blog subjects and maybe the first 10 words of each as a preview on my home page.
