Hi Audrey, to use the portfolio custom post type with Espied, you’ll first need to install the Jetpack plugin and activate the Custom Content Types module.

I activated jetpacks custom post types but in the settings>writing section there is no box for me to check to allow it.

thats all it says in that section with nothing to click besides save changes. am i doing something wrong, the portfolio still doesnt seem to be showing just the posts page. do i have to make a special static portfolio page?

Are you not seeing that checkbox?

Would it be possible to upload a screenshot of your Settings > Writing admin page, to help in troubleshooting?

You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.

do i have to make a special static portfolio page?

If you’ve published at least one portfolio project by adding it under Portfolio > Add New, then your portfolio page should automatically appear at yourdomain.com/portfolio. Could you provide a link to your site so I can take a look?

I have the same problem. No Checkbox for the custom content type. After installing Jetpack, activating all it’s parts… No Checkbox. Is there a solution?

Hi DavidBours – could you please confirm that you’ve activated the Custom Content Types module in your Jetpack settings? It’s a specific module that needs to be activated.

Could you also confirm what theme you’re running? In order to use the Custom Content Types module for portfolio projects you need to be using a theme that supports it, such as Espied, Illustrator, or Sketch.

I’m having the same problem: running WP 4.1 on my local machine, installed Espied, installed Jetpack (3.3 / development mode), activated Custom Content Types in Jetpack Settings … No “Your Custom Content Types” in Dashboard > Settings > Writing; No Portfolio content type folder in the Dashboard sidebar.

I have tried a clean WP install, that didn’t help.

(FYI: I tried plugin: Portfolio Post Type | https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/portfolio-post-type/ which does give me the Portfolio folder and i can add PF items. Problem is the Espied theme doesn’t present it’s great thumbnailed/grid Portfolio page with this plugin)

I have done the same routine on a wordpress.com hosted site … and all seems to run fine (stefkolman.wordpress.com). I have posted two screenshots of my settings pages there as well.
