Importing from Movable Type

  • The instructions for importing from Movable Type in the documentation are wrong. There is no import-mt.php file. There is a file called mt.php in the import directory, but the line that supposedly doesn’t appear in the file. Further, when I run that script, I get the following error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: register_importer() in /home/dopderbe/public_html/blog/wp-admin/import/mt.php on line 435

    Can someone explain what I need to do to import from MT? Thanks

  • Ditto.

    You are not supposed to call the mt.php file directly. Go to your WP admin panel, then look under Manage for the Import sub menu.

    i am having this same problem. there simply IS NO STUPID import-mt.php FILE INSIDE “WP-ADMIN/IMPORT/”

    Birgit, you must have a better model of WP than me b/c i don’t have anything resembling an “admin panel”… all i have is this whole ‘cutesy community’ type area that is supposed to serve are a login area. you can’t control anything there. it’s only a profile page… reminds me of a decaffinated myspace or something, ya know?

    heh. but there is NOTHING at all that says “manage” or any submenus other than under “my account” and all they offer is a lame contact form, a link to update your all-important profile, tag surfer (and other “stats” kinda stuff, etc. oh… i see now the thing’s called a “global dashboard”.

    ooh. aaah. sheesh.

    anyhow… am i just in the wrong place (in my wp files, i mean!) ?? did GilbertZ and dopderbeck get their problems solved and i am just seriously covered in stupid?

    please help me out, if you would be so kind. i’ve looked all over these posts and this is the first one i’ve found that’s exactly on my problem.

    i’m going nuts. (and trust me, it’s not a long walk either.)

    along these lines, does anyone know if it matters which version of MT you are importing?

    for axample, i run v2.63
