• Hi, first I wanted to thank you for a super great plug in. Its my favorite.

After migrating my site and domain name to another host, I did the upgrade on the plugin and then wanted to preform a scan.

The scan didn’t work. I read the documentation you provided for that issue and everything checked okay.

I ended up clicking the link at the bottom of the options page to check the configuration. And that’s when I noticed all the info related to your plugin is synced with my old host server and the old Home public_html file of the main domain name(not my current domain) at the previous host. My current domain was an add-on to the old primary domain at old host. Its now primary domain at new host, with new host ip location etc.

In hopes of a possible solution, I deactivated, then deleted the Wordfence plugin, went to your site, downloaded the new version. Uploaded the zip in “install plugins” in WP – hoping it would give me a fresh new install. And it didn’t.

It just re-installed the same version again, and with the same configuration.

Is there a reset button to clear all the configuration out and start fresh? What shall I do to resolve this issue?

    Thank you in advance.

Mark can you please help? On a new upload I check-marked the “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation”. I got the congratulations pages and re-entered an new email address. I got the email and so-forth. It cleared the pages of all the previous selected options But yet again, not scanning. All the configurations are still set to the previous data from the old installations. And the old host information.

If I upgrade will can you guys get me a fresh new plugin?

    Thank you in advance,

    Annie

I’d begin by browsing your WP database for Wordfence data. I use phpMyAdmin.

It could be that the new Wordfence installation doesn’t know how to sanitize the previous database tables and the old tables remain. I’d also go ahead and delete out all the Wordfence lines from .htaccess

Other than the Wordfence folder in Plugins which I think you already deleted, that should be all traces of Wordfence.

    sdayman,

Thank you! I’ve never used phpMyAdmin, but I think its time I start. Yes I deleted the plugin file folder from wp-content. And I show nothing in .htaccess for wordfence.

So there must be existing data in the database. I have to say I’m afraid to mess with the database as I’m not tech savvy.

More than anything, I feel disappointed that my help request went ignored by Mark, as I was a huge fan of this plugin. I had already planned to upgrade as soon as I could afford to. But I feel snubbed and ignored, and why? I had a legitimate request, why couldn’t he answer it?

I will try to get familiar with myPhpAdmin, and go from there.

Again, thank you for being the only one to offer me some feedback.

    Annie

Once you connect with phpMyAdmin, you’ll see a handful of tables that start with wf
That is, if they’re still there. If not, then it’s a bigger mystery.

adayman, thank you so much for helping me! I’m in my Cpanel right now and I’m in phpMyAdim, Im looking at those files, theres’ like 20 that start with wf and there’s also one that says wf-config.

I’ve done a back up of the data base.

    which files should I drop?

I’ll keep watch for your reply

    thank you! Anne
