    Hi Paul,

I’m having problems with Admin Access Key lockout in v3.1.5. It’s happened a number of times, so much so that this is the one element of Simple Firewall that I’m reluctant to activate on my sites. I have Simple Firewall running on 9 sites and I’ve never had a good experience with the Admin Access Key so it’s not activated.

I go to the Admin Access panel and specify a key. I’m super careful when typing it. It’s only 6 characters, a mix of alpha and numbers. I leave the default timeout then submit.

When the admin panel reloads and I’m challenged to enter my key, it always fails. The Enter Access Key challenge simply reloads.

It’s incredibly frustrating as I then have to deactivate the plugin via FTP and start again.

    I’m using Safari 7.0.6.

    Cheers,

    David.

    Hi David,

Apologies for the trouble here. Based on this, I’ve tweaked how the admin access restriction cookies are generated as I think that might be where the problem lies. Otherwise, for now at least, I can’t see why this wouldn’t be working.

Can I ask you to give this a shot with v3.2.0 of the plugin and let me know how you get on?

    Thanks!
    Paul.

Bingo! v3.2.0 works exactly as expected on the site I was working with this morning. I repeated exactly what I did earlier when setting the admin key. Now unlocks just fine. I even double checked by starting a new session from a different web browser.

Thanks Paul, as ever for the fast response and fix.

    Cheers,

    David.

Great! Delighted to hear that ??

Thanks for reporting back. Can I ask, would you be open to leaving a review of the plugin – it really helps with the reputation and exposure.

    Thanks!
    Paul.
