Quick question to anyone that can help. If you go to my page at:

    https://www.lensaunders.com/wp

If you look at the top of the content, you see the word ‘Home’ above the 2 pictures. Is there a way to remove that word there?

    Thanks anyone.

Yes. Edit your theme to remove that word or bit of code.

Thank you Otto42. I am a total beginner at this. How do I edit the theme. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am learning.

Just tried looking at the index.php to fix this, but that was the wrong place. Not sure how to edit the theme….just too new to all this.

Are you using any kind of “make a Page the main page” kinda plugin?

If yes, just go to admin > Manage > Pages and edit that Page titled “Home”. Delete its title.

EDIT. Depending on your theme/plugins that might remove it from the top horizontal menu, too.

Thank you Moshu for the feedback. It worked for the home page, no problem. You were also correct, when I tried it for the other pages (Terms and Contact), it removed it from the horizontal menu as well. Is there any way to do it for the other pages?

I do have a plugin for a static front page, so I am not sure if that is important to know. Thank you in advance.

Moshu, while I have your ear, the reason why this problem occurred is because last night when I tried upgrading to the new WP 2.1, all the links on the top nav bar disappeared. Do you know why this happened, and what I can do to upgrade properly. I had to go back to my previous WP version to keep the page working properly.

Yes, there might be a workaround, but it would depend on what you need.
    a) if you won’t need ever to have a Page’s title displayed – edit your default Page template (page.php) and remove th template tag that displays the title:
    Template_Tags/the_title
    b) if you need Pages both with and without the title… then you should have 2 Page templates (at least): one with and one without the title displayed, so you can select the template when writing Pages.

Thank you Moshu for your time. I edited something after your post, so I wanted to write it again. You may be the only one that can help me. What I wrote is below:

Thank you. That appears to be what I encountered. I read it with interest, but I am not confident enough to fix it on my own. I am afraid I am too much of a beginner to apply what is stated there. Can you or anyone explain what I should do in beginner terms. Sorry for the stupidity….

Hmmm… I thought I wrote that in a way that everybody could understand. Obviously, I was wrong.

On the other hand: taking a closer look at your theme, it seems to be a blix clone – and you’ll have difficulties finding anyone willing to touch it. Even seasoned WP users avoid to edit it.
Although, it has its unconditional fans, so somebody might jump in here…

Sorry I could not understand it. Just not a computer person. Thanks anyway. Could you recommend a new theme that may work better in WP 2.1 ? I don’t want to pick another unpopular one.

    (@moshu)

Actually, blix is very popular and people love it – until they need to edit it ??

Theme? Well, if you ask me, here goes my advice: you have a profesionally looking main website with a nice clean design. Why don’t you make or order a theme that looks exactly like you site, so for the visitors it would be a seamless transition from the site to the blog and vice-versa?

    Thread Starter childrensfitness

    (@childrensfitness)

That’s a good idea, but I would never know how to do that on my own. I do like my design, but I could not make it into a WP theme. Anyway, I thank you very much for your time and expertise. At least you helped me fix the nav bar issue. I think I will try finding a new theme, then upgrading to 2.1 again to see what happens.

Edit: Do you like any of Andreas’ themes?

I took a quick look at it. Converting your main site into a theme would not be difficult, as it’s very clearly laid out and such. I’d be willing to help you with it. Email me: [email protected] .
