• I have searched for an answer to this, but being a simple user I have no idea how to change lines of code and rename files and all that stuff.

My site is here, I have no idea what version of wp i’m using because my dashboard is currently not working. I can see the menu down the left side, but the only thing that opens is Counterize.

I can’t disable plugins because I can’t get to them. All i’ve done is clear my cache, and tried a different browser (internet explorer, usually i use chrome). Nothing works. I can’t even sign in using the android app on my phone.

When i go to my site itself I can see the wp menu along the top, but if i click to add a new post, i get the blank dashboard screen again.

    Help please!

  • Hi Jen,

Did you try to disable plugins using FTP? (by renaming the plugin folder)

Thanks Wouter, but i wouldn’t have the first idea how to do that! I really am a basic level user. I’ve only ever accessed the plugins through the dashboard, but they’re not visible at the moment.

    JenLWB.,

You are using very old version WordPress it need to be upgrade. First get backup your all files and databases Then remove all plugins. Then update wordpress and restore tour plugins folder from the backup

I’ve tried to upgrade the wordpress version, but the dashboard just goes to a blank screen. same as the plugin option.

Any beginners guides to doing this whole ftp thing would be handy. As i said, i don’t know anything about the inner workings, i’ve only used the dashboard.
