• Just to get this out of the way — I’m pretty new to WordPress (1 week and counting…).

So I set up a website with WordPress, and started blogging on it. This morning I noticed that feedreaders are choking on the original blog feed URL. It turns out that the blog post feed url used to be:

    https://sortingoutscience.net/feed/

And now it has spontaneously changed to:

    https://sortingoutscience.net/?feed=rss2

How did this happen? And, how do I change it back?

All I can figure is that I was fiddling around with different themes yesterday, and one of them must have changed the feed URLs (the comment feed URL changed similarly). Since this change is robust to (current) theme changes, though, I’m presuming the database got tweaked.

Thanks in advance for any help…

  • Nothing was “tweaked” except that you have changed your permalink structure.

The “/feed” works when you have ‘nice’ permalinks. What you have now is the default setting.

    Ah…. Gotcha!

Thanks a mint, it never would have occurred to me that a change in permalink structure would change the feed URL styles.

I changed my permalink styles back to “Date and name based” (where it should have been, and was originally), and the original URLs now work again.

    Thanks 1e6!
