• Hello,

Is it possible to change WP 3.9 default path to media files from:
    domain.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/SITE_ID/*
    to
    domain.com/files/*

Maybe some kind of rewrite could be used?

    Thank you in advance!

    Yes, but no.

I mean, yes, we used to do that with ms-files.php and certainly you can reverse the logic there with the old 3.4 multisite way, but don’t. It ended up making things slower, as all images had to pass through a PHP file to load, which put more load on your server.

No visitor really cares about the location of an image at the end of the day.

Agree, but if I post image on external website I’d like to get a shorter url than
    domain.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/08/filename.jpg
    ??

You can use URL shorteners, but honestly you don’t actually WANT to hotlink your own images. Unless you like your site being slow.
