How to have pages show posts from certain catagories?

I’ve installed some widgets, neither of which I can figure out. Both say that the pages will show something to allow me to add it in there, neither does, as far as I can tell.

Is there a simpler way? Perhaps some code? I just want the posts listed with the image and excerpt. Any ideas?
