• I have tried 2 different browsers and 2 different OSX computers on different versions of the OS and the results are always the same. I add images to the slide show and save… then the screen comes back without my new image. I change a setting on a previous image and click save… no changes. I alter the slide show settings, like turning off the navigation setting and click save… no changes. To make it worse, the problem is intermittent. I am about to dive into debug mode in my browser to see if there are errors I cannot see. I am also about to turn off all the other plugins. Yes I run JetPack with many of the options active, and yes I run All in One SEO plugin, Social Media Feather, Akismet and 2 others.

I am at a loss except to start turning everything off to see if there is a conflict.

“Does anyone know might be causing my changes to note be saved?”

    My primary computer is:
    OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
    Safari Version 7.0.6 (9537.78.2)

    Slider Plugin: Version 2.2.21

  • Hi JoeCuv that is the best action you can take now. Disable all your other plugins except this one and enable one by one to see which one is conflicting with this plugin.

I did that, and it did not help. I only had this 1 slideshow plugin active.

I am trying to build a new slideshow from scratch.

I did have a problem however. I tried to add a whole batch of images (1 per slide) from the media library in 1 step by CTRL CLICKing on the photos I want. Nothing got added to the slideshow. So I started entering them one at a time. I have about 100 images for this slide show so it’s gonna a take a little time if I have to add them one at a time.

Just curious if you know there might be some WordPress cache setting, or SQL memory setting I should check on my web hosting that might be causing this. Since I have the exact same problem when I tried to add a large batch of images all at once, then maybe I am running into a memory limitation someplace?

Hi JoeCuv, try the following URL. If you are low in resources then that will definitely cause issues when you try to up load large files i.e. images.

Memory does not look like the issue. Here is the memory report:

    db 2.477M ~ Mem 39.52 of 268435456M

    There are no time-outs.
There are no errors in the browser console.
Saving back to a Draft doesn’t change anything.

Building a new slide show seems to be working. I’ll have it done in the next day or so if I don’t have any other problems. I was able to just add 15 image slides at one time, so maybe it will go faster than that as well.

Thanks for your help so far. I will follow up with another comment no matter what happens.

Okay JoeCuv, I look forward to your report.

I’m stumped. I got to about 96 image slides, 1 slide for each image. Very straight forward and now I can’t make any changes to the existing data or add any new data. If I remove n image, I can add a different one. Here is the first feature for this plugin:

    Features

    • Create as many slideshows with as many slides as you like
    • You image files are all saved as High or Very High jpegs, but they are not outrageous in size. It is a photographers web site so dumbing down the quality for higher compression is not much help. Almost all the images are exactly 800px x 533px with a few of them not the full 800 px wide. I’ve been building sites for 19 years. I’m out of options.

Am I supposed to make a donation to the developer now and ask for their support??
Or am I supposed to ditch this plugin? I can use Slider Revolution but it uses the file names in the ALT Tags instead of my preferred ALT Tags. This being a photo heavy site, I am trying to hang on to the SEO benefits I have till now with “Slideshow” plugin by Stefan Boonstra. I hate to jump ship. What would you do?

Hi there must be some limit somewhere in your website or server settings.

I have a shared host with HostGator and no unusual settings or configuration issues. I have a very standard WordPress install that is all up to date. My theme is a child from a recent WordPress standard theme. I only modified a few CSS tags and some of the HTML output for the top of the page and the credit line in the footer. I have checked everything I can. One thing I do know is that I have around 120 high quality jpegs I want to use in a slide show and it bonks at 95. I tried setting up a new slide show and it has the exact same problem. I have tried other plugins and am now running another plugin that works perfectly with this same set of photos. I happened to prefer this plugin because of it’s handling of Alt Text and embedded HTML tags. Since I now have another plugin doing the job I just have to move on. I think your suggestion that it must be my server or my settings is hard for me to swallow. I truly thank you for your help. I think the developer of this plugin should have a second look at their claim that it can have unlimited images. Or maybe someone else that has a very large slideshow on their system and see if they get a repeat of my problem. If I wasn’t on a shared host, I could do more diagnostics of the environment. I just can’t take any more time to try and chase down the cause. Thanks again.

Hi JoeCuv so you are saying that you have 96 slideshows? Each slideshow has only one image?

The title of my post is “My slide show is not updating when I make ANY changes”. The first post in my thread says “I add images to the slide show and save… then the screen comes back without my new image. I change a setting on a previous image and click save… no changes. I alter the slide show settings, like turning off the navigation setting and click save… no changes.”

I have 1 slideshow with 1 image for each slide.

Okay lets try something new. Change the theme to one of WordPress default theme like Twenty Thirteen or Fourteen and see if that works.

Let me know how you go.
