in WP 4.0 captions in posts are being removed

  • since i upgraded to 4.0 captions i set for certain images are constantly being removed. you can set a caption and right when you preview it, the caption is gone and when you save/update the post the captions are removed.

    Try a few basic troubleshooting steps:
    – Clear your browser’s cookies and all cache.
    – Try deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    I’m experiencing the same exact issue since the upgrade to 4.0. I’ve tried the troubleshooting above, and the captions still disappear! One of the themes I’m using is Twenty Fourteen, so it’s not a theme issue!

    Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Issue Resolved: TinyMCE Advanced just pushed through their update, and now captions are saving and showing on the live site!

    @bahuett, I am not sure what you mean by “can’t remove it”. If you are referring to TinyMCE Advanced, NO, no need to remove…just update the plugin and your captions will begin saving as they always have, and ALL prior captions will remain untouched.

    I could never live without TinyMCE Advanced, so I am happy happy again! ??

    edit2: well i think im gonna switch to your plugin then.. lot of work but seems that your plugin is better just by download count

    edit3: damnit.. its not a widget… i need a plugin/widget with visual editing.on some pages i use page-builder and there you use widgets to place them here and there and fill with content.

    @bahuett, perhaps contact the developer of the Black Studio TinyMCE Widget to let them know the possibility exists the plugin needs to be updated to be compatible with WP 4.0 (even though it says it’s compatible with 4.0. I see it was last updated July 25, 2014, so the developer does keep it up-to-date!

    I do see someone has already posted a possible conflict with 4.0 under the Support tab (I would suggest you post your issue there too):

    its a problem between page-builder and this tinymce widget. you can disable either of them and problem solved. will be hard to get the authors communicating with each other
