The compatibility with WordPress 4.0 has been fixed in CKEditor for WordPress 4.4.4.

This should be (hopefully) resolved in 4.4.5 thanks to @vokiel!

Please check the latest version that I just published and report back whether the issue is gone. Make sure to clear the browser cache.

    Wiktor,
    4.4.5 is working perfectly ok!

    A few points…

The left indent is described as ‘Smiley’? Is this correct?
Perhaps this should be with the other Indent controls?

Perhaps Bullets and numbers should automatically use the current text colour, font, and other parameters e.g., Bold etc…

    Great job well done!
    Slan,

    Thanks for the confirmation!

Can you clear the cache again and/or try different browser? If you see weird icons on some toolbar buttons than it’s a cache issue.

As mentioned on the project page in the Maintenance status, this project is looking for maintainers. If anyone is willing to work on bugs/enhancements, feel free to do so. I will accept all Pull Requests that resolve some issues: https://github.com/ckeditor-for-wordpress/ckeditor-for-wordpress

    Greetings again Wiktor,
a temporary solution has been posted and I will attempt to modify my file…

“I have this same problem. I fix it temporairly by rename file in wp-admin/js/ editor.min.js’ to __editor.min.js”

Does this just mean I just prefix an underscore before the word ‘editor’. Is that it please?

I did not investigate the issue so cannot confirm this. I’d be careful with modifying core files as something unexpected may break down. However if you perform this on a staging/testing website and will not find any serious issues and/or javascript errors on your website that are somehow related to editing, then you may try it out.

Unfortunately replacing the default editor in WordPress is a PITA because it is not prepared to support other editors than the default one. The extension always had to “hack” WordPress to make CKEditor working, which is a bit sad.

The better solution for this issue would be to check what JavaScript errors are thrown and fix them. Perhaps an additional JavaScript method defined in editor.min.js has to be overwritten etc.

An ideal solution would be to convince WordPress to provide some sane level of abstraction to register alternative editors (just like e.g. Drupal 8 did). If this is available, finally extensions like this one could be widely used and seriously maintained.

    Hello Wiktor,
    Thanks for your quick response
The responsibility for any changes I make are mine, no one else.
My website is a service for retired Firefighters(like myself) and their Widows which I pay for so is not experimental,my readership statistics are very high.
CK is essential to my work because I am not an expert.
Can you suggest who I might write to in WordPress to express my point of view?
Secondly if no one is going to maintain CK which is very sad news can you suggest an alternative Editor with the same facilities as yours which I might switch over to please?

    Greetings Dear Wiktor,
Many thanks for your work and your help to me and my Fire Service Veterans some of whom(including myself) worked with the Polish Fire Service in Spitak Armenia during the 1988 Earthquake. Good People.
In the end the quality of your Editor will be and is recognised as the world industry Standard to which others should aspire when writing their code.Keep at it.

    Much Good Luck and Blessings
    Paul
