Button doesn't appear

Hi,
I tried putting the mailchimp code at many locations, but the button doesn’t seem to appear. The code for the button is
<div class=”clear”><input type=”submit” value=”Subscribe” name=”subscribe” id=”mc-embedded-subscribe” class=”button”></div>

Is this because of some default definitions in the theme?
The function as such is working i.e. i enter the email in the field and press enter, it works. But the button doesn’t appear.
any advice?
