Errors activating the plugin

  • Using a fresh install of wordpress 4.0 on a testing site on my local computer using XAMPP with default wordpress plguins and Twenty Fourteen theme. After installing this plugin, I get the following error message:

    “The plugin generated 292 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.”

    At the top of all my pages I also get the following warning:

    “Warning: session_start(): open(/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/temp//sess_4lpnict5qgip8om04ka6jmb6p7, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /Users/adrian/Sites/dev/www.test.dev/wp-content/plugins/testimonial-basics/testimonial-basics.php on line 38”

    I’ve given the entire wordpress folder and its contents read/write permission, so don’t know where to go from here. Is this a compatability issue with wordpress 4.0 or some other issue.

    Don’t worry, I found the problem. There must be a conflict with accessing the tmp directiory on my XAMPP install. Since it is a testing server, I just set all the permissions to read/write.

    Is there another option to fixing this problem? I am having the same problem on a 4.1 wordpress site with the 4.0.8 testimonial version.

    I am unfamiliar with the method described by awelsh.

    Suggestions?
