• Hi,

I tried to delete a media file from the library (a .pdf document) using the “Delete Permanently” link. It confirms that the file has been deleted but when I go to the URL where the document resides, I can still access the deleted file. I emptied my cache and tried it again and the file still appears. When I access the site files through FTP, the .pdf file does NOT appear in the wp-contents/uploads folder.

Is the file truly not deleting, and if so, how do I completely remove it from the server if I can’t see it in the FTP file manager? Or am I doing something wrong? Please help! Thx!

  • The only thing I can imagine is that the file is cached on your hard drive by your browser. Try visiting the file with another browser, or emptying your browser’s cache. I recommend just trying to visit the file in the alternate browser, I dislike clearing my cache because it loses all my goodies. ??

If you can;t access it, then you can be sure it is gone. If you can;t see it via FTP, we can be pretty sure its not there.
