I can upload a gallery fine, but when I try to insert a gallery to a page, the popup takes a good while to load (though my site’s memory usage is set to 128M which I believe should be adequate for NextGen Gallery); once it does load, the “Display Galleries” tab shows blank options. The sections for the tab are there – “Select a display type”, “What would you like to display”, etc. – but the actual options are coming up blank. I don’t see any options for selecting a gallery, a display type, order of images, etc. Screenshot here: Screenshot

I’ve tried disabling several plugins and seeing one by one which ones are affecting this, with no luck. I switched to a default theme instead of my custom one, still no improvement. I tried downgrading to a previous version of NG, but that didn’t solve the problem either. I made sure the site URL and admin URL were both the same, and I flushed my permalinks cache as well just to make sure there wasn’t a conflict there. The PHP and wp-config settings both have the max memory for the site at 128M, and it has proven more than adequate in the past for displaying my site and managing my plugins’ functionality. Safety Mode is set to Off in PHP settings.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    @coolhatwebdesign – You wrote:

… did you try disabling *all* plugins and temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme; clearing caches; then, reactivating NextGEN Gallery?

I’ve tried that as well, with no success. I also made sure to update this morning to NG 2.0.66.29 and disabling all other plugins, using a default theme, still no change.

I should clarify: the problem persists even when all other plugins are turned off and I’m using a default theme.

@coolhatwebdesign – Have you tried using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options?

I just did and that had no effect either, unfortunately.

It’s odd because the other tabs on the popup like Add/Manage Galleries etc. work fine and display the inline content perfectly. It’s only the tab that lets me insert and configure a gallery that offers no options at all except for the accordion of option sub headers.

I think I am going to have to talk to the hosting service for my site about this. I checked a completely different WordPress installation I have and the current NG works fine for inserting images. What would cause this issue though? Are there any PHP compatibility issues for the plugin at present? The site I am trying to fix is running on PHP 5.3.23

I am having the exact same issue. I have multiple sites as well and 2 of mine this is happening to but not others. I tried all the same things as coolhatwebdesign and no changes.

@coolhatwebdesign – There are no issues with any particular PHP version we are aware of provided it meets the requirements set out by WordPress.

@long Beach Web Design – This detail would have been useful in your own topic.

Noting that these are similar issues (they are not the same issue) I would recommend looking at the differences between the working site(s) and the non-working site to see if that points to any particular conflict.

I have found no difference in the two sites in respect to Nextgen gallery. I have disabled all plugins and reverted back to default theme. How else would I check for a conflict besides that?

I have the same problem on all our sites. In our case, we are using SSL and we have found that the plugin is using http instead of https when loading the content of the popup ([oursiteurl]/nextgen-attach_to_post), which is then blocked by the browser as insecure.
Is there anything I can do to make it load over https? I made sure the site has the right URLs in the General settings, but there was no change. I am willing to modify the code, if need be.

@corvidism – This is most likely a different issue, please start a new topic so we can address it specifically. Also to note, we do test in a mixed HTTP/HTTPS environment and are not seeing what you are describing.

    Thanks!

@long Beach Web Design do you have the ability to check the PHP version where your site is hosted? It’s possible there’s a conflict there (I’m still waiting to hear back from my hosting provider to update PHP, since I don’t have access to cPanel in this one website’s case). I noticed that the PHP version on my other website where NG works fine is 5.4, while the version on the site with issues is 5.3. This might be the case, at least worth a check.

I tried re-uploading all NG files from a fresh download, that didn’t help either. I can post back here once I hear from my hosting support.

@coolhatwebdesign – Please do … also if you have access to the specific build of PHP 5.3 we can keep note of that (just in case this is not an isolated issue).

    Thanks!

the PHP build on the site where I’m seeing these problems is 5.3.23. I’m not saying that may be the culprit here, but it’s worth looking into.

@coolhatwebdesign – Can you switch that over to a more current version of PHP?
