• Hi there,

Just migrated from WordPress.com and am extremely impressed with my WordPress 4.0 installation, I love it. There is only one thing I’m missing from WordPress.com: namely the “Like button” on comments (a simple little star that changes colour when “liking” a comment).

It may seem like a very small feature, but it is extremely useful as a way to let readers who comment know that their comment has been read and is appreciated, without having to reply straight away or perhaps at all. (It is of course also used to appreciate and/or agree with other readers’ comments on various blogs).

I have looked through all the available plug-ins for www.ads-software.com, but there is none that can do that. There are many like button plug-ins, and a few of them are for comments, but they send a different signal and serve a different purpose than the WordPress comment like button: they count and compare popularity of comments (voting for comments, Counting Likes/Dislikes et.c.)… so essentially they signal that comments compete. They are also much more clumsy and dominating in design.

That is not what I want. The discrete little WordPress comment “Like” button has a useful courtesy function instead, like saying “Thank You!”… that’s all. (at least that’s how I use it and have seen it used)

I’d really love to have that feature in a future update.

In WordPress.com it is part of the settings in dashboard under “Settings” – “Sharing” – and scroll down, there is the option to tick: “Comment Likes are turned On/Off for all comments”.

It is such as small feature, but so useful. It is quite new in WordPress.com, and I really hope it will trickle over in www.ads-software.com.

    Anna

To clarify: I don’t mean a Facebook Like button but an integrated WordPress like button, preferably where people don’t necessarily need to be logged in to anything.

*Sigh* Doesn’t seem like anything will happen here.
