Theme causing problems in the admin area – trying to troubleshoot

  • Hi Guys,
    I have a problem in wp-admin where things like screen-options doesn’t work, I can’t add tags to posts, if I press the select all tickbox on the list or posts/pages it doesn’t select everything.

    If I change my theme back to 2014 it works fine so I know it is the theme causing this, i’ve also disabled an removed all plugins and re-installed WP4.0.

    Something I noticed is that when one of my plugins was pushing a message to the top of the admin area everything worked fine, but once I dismissed that message it all stopped again.

    So … I need to troubleshoot this as the original theme author can’t be contacted ?? but I am not sure where to begin.

    Can anyone say why the theme is impacting the wp-admin area? what file from the theme is being called that could be stopping this?

    Any guidance on where to begin would be great, I have HTML and PHP knowledge.
