I can't download update 4.0 or install themes I get SSL error

I’m having the same problem. The error message I get is:

I’ve opened a ticket with my host (WestHost) and just got a note that ‘it looks like it is related to the version of OpenSSL or curl that your account is running’ and they are going to look at the server for a fix.

juggledad, was your hosting able to fix it? do they told you what it was?

Yes, it looks like they did. I’m going to contact them and see what they did and I’ll report back

Same problem here. I installed WP from the aplus.net control panel for a new site. Log in to WP and it says I need to update to 4.0. When I try, I get that error message too (below). I contacted aplus and they told me it’s a 3rd party problem and my ticket was closed. So any other insight would be so helpful! Thanks

Thank you for your patience. Our level 2 technicians made some small changes to the current version of CURL installed on the website. They had to change that to use different libraries on the account. In this case it wouldn’t really be something that could be applied to other accounts.

I’d suggest you contact your host’s spuuort group

Can you tell me to which version of CURL they have to update? (I don’t even know what CURL is), but people in Aplus are telling me they can do it if I tell them exactly what needs to be updated.

this sounds like you timed out doing the install. You may have to manually upload the files or talk to your host and see if they will increase your time out value.

Each and every time when I try update WordPress for my site it gives me an error code then I have to contact my hosting provider. Sometimes they fix it and sometimes its really frustrating.
