    Hi,
I know there are a lot of plugins for this. The first one I downloaded turned out to be a waste of time, because of a glitch that wouldn’t let you save settings.

    Here’s what we need:

People should be able to sign up to receive email every time we blog.

Ideally, people should be able to sign up for notification ONLY on certain categories, but this is not required (I have yet to find any that does this).

Most important is reliability and that it is clean, not glitchy, etc.

    Thanks much

  • Could try that one, which allows mailing people who subscribe to your blog :

Thanks for the link, but that’s not at all what we need. We need something that will notify people automatically, and allow them to subscribe and unsubscribe.

    vkaryl,
Sorry I forgot to mention, that’s actually the one I tried. The problem is you can’t modify the settings, it just goes to a blank code…not sure if it’s a glitch or something funky with my host…

Umm, okay, looks like I was using an old version…the one on Wp-Plugins.net doesn’t work. This one does.

    Thanks!

It’s in current update and active dev too…. Yes, an old version wouldn’t work at all, but the latest one is quite good!

    Vkaryl,
Having new troubles with that plugin. I logged out and tried to subscribe, I just get a “This page cannot be displayed”…I did set S2PAGE to 20 (as is mentioned very vaguely in the instructions…)

    Can you help me?

Are you on a windows server?
Many future problems I’m afraid with plugins.

Yes. That’s too bad. Any remedy?

    vkaryl

    (@vkaryl)

Oh OUCH. Remedy? Move to a real server, as in linux/unix and apache.

Feedburner may be a good option for you.

vkaryl, ASP does not work on apache. We’d love to switch to a Unix-based (or better yet X-Serve) server, would you like to pay for the redevelopment of our entire site in PHP? ??

Obviously my question is, is there a fix for problems we run into that have to do with our server, or are we up shit creek?

    johnnyspade,
Thanks for the link, but does this allow to send out email? I’m looking around and can’t seem to find any sort of synopsis of what you can do with Feedburner…

Feedburner will allow you to add an email signup box to your website. Users who signup will receive a daily email with links to updated or new content on your website. I do believe that as an administrator you can send a bulk email to all users who have signed up as well, but I can’t say for certain. I would sign up for an account and test it. It’s free so no risk there.

Perfect, that did the trick, thanks.
