• I am having trouble uploading pictures to my website. The last time I tried to upload, I got an error. Now I get nothing. The little icon just keeps spinning. The pictures that are on my website are still there, I just can’t see them in my library.

I don’t have any code experience so if there are any suggestions for a non-techy type to try, I’d appreciate it.

No, the little spinning icon doesn’t stop spinning to even allow me to select Upload File.

Did your problem just start? I upload pictures a few days ago and then when I tried to do more pictures last night, I noticed they did not show in my library and I couldn’t upload any more.

Have you been through the troubleshooting steps here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-40-master-list

If I changed my custom theme to the twenty fourteen theme as a way of troubleshooting this problem, will I be able to get my custom theme back?

It’s hard to troubleshoot when you don’t know a lot about code but I thought WordPress is supposed to be friendly to people like me.

Switching to another theme won’t delete your theme.

There are very basic troubleshooting methods like deactivating all of your plugins & switching to the default WordPress themes to narrow down the issue, that does not require technical knowledge.

Wish me luck! I’m going to give some of those ideas a try tonight. Hopefully, that will do the trick.

It seems like every time I go fooling around with stuff, I lose things and then can’t figure out how to get them back.

That is a good troubleshooting guide to have handy.

I experience the same problem. Suddenly the medialibrary is empty and the button to uppload new images to a post or a page doesn′t work. Does this have anything to do with the latest version of WP? I have tried to reinstall wp and also to deactivate and remove plugins. Anyone here who knows how to solve this?

@karinma, can you continue this discussion on your original thread? You’re free to add more information to it that’ll help us help you. For example on your thread please could you link to a Webpage with the problem?

Ok, turned off my plugins and that didn’t work so I turned them back on. I switched to twenty fourteen and all of the pics I’ve been trying to upload were there! So I guess it’s my custom theme that is the problem? How can I fix that? Is there something from twenty fourteen that I can copy over to my custom site that will fix the problem?

    Which theme are you using?

    (@joneary)

I have a custom theme. Someone made it for me but does not think she can help me with this problem.

Are you still getting an error message on your theme? If so, what is the entire error message?

    Thread Starter joneary

    (@joneary)

I haven’t been getting an error message since it happened the first time. It’s just uploading and there are no pics in my library.

Can you try checking if you’re getting any JavaScript errors: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors
